Description

This very early, probably 1860s-70s piece has a black ebony grip, a pommel which has the face of a lion, a plain cross guard with 2 acorns on each end. The beauty of this piece is the imperial cipher on the clamshell with a Bavarian crown over the intertwined initials. Beautiful stippling, high quality and on the scabbard. It has a highly detailed hound for the hanger. The scabbard is black and in excellent condition for its age. The blade, which is about 2 feet long, is marked with an early Alcoso trademark. It has a very old red buffer. The blade shows a fair amount of spotting; however, it has never been cleaned. When these pieces are this old, it is really the fittings and the overall exterior appearance that counts.
