Description

This early mid-1800s hunting cutlass, which does not have a scabbard, has hand chased filigree work of different hunt scenes on the blade. The real artistry comes into play with the fittings from the clamshell with the huntsman slaying the bear to the mother of pearl and tortoise shell grip. There are a multitude of scenes with wild boars being attacked by dogs, a huntsman as the center point of the D guard and at the base of the handle there are two lions between a crest and a crown which appears to be Prussian in design.
