Description
A very old, probably 18th century. Has a beautiful blackhorn grip. Pommel top is carved out with scenes of running wolves and grotesque faces. The D guard has a fancy hunter as part of the motif. He carries both a hunting cutlass and rifle. The cross guard has bears on both sides and the clamshell depicts a mounted hunter using a lance to kill a wild boar. The blade, which has an extremely early look, is all hand engraved with mostly filigree work. Dagger was more than likely for a royal family and the technical term for the piece is a Jagdswert.
