Description

This is a fine World War II German K98 Mauser bayonet, scabbard, and leather frog that is in excellent condition.  The red Bakelite handles are without damage and the pommel is complete with two ‘WaA618’ waffen amp markings. There are no dents or dings in the flash guard. The blade retains much of the original blued finish with more wear towards the tip. The blade is without any nicks, rust or damage and retains the original factory tip. One ricasso is marked ‘44fnj’ indicating manufactured by Alexander Coppel Gmbh, and the other ricasso is numbered ‘1473c’. The scabbard is with a dull gray finish and without dents or damage and is marked at the throat with the number ‘2704c’, not matching that of the bayonet. It is fitted with a nice black leather frog that is marked on the back side, ‘R.B.Nr. 0/1001/0337’. The leather remains supple and is with all stitching and rivets intact. The handle retaining strap is undamaged and holds the handle securely in place. Despite being not matched this is an extremely fine-looking Mauser bayonet in excellent and undamaged condition.
