Description
Extremely rare sword which was a presented piece with engraved panels to the both sides of the blade. The piece was given to an Oberleutnant Anton Pointner on the date of 12/18/1939. Excellent detail to the engraving and a bright finish to the blade and measures 30.25 inches and shows just a bit of corrosion to the tip. Grip is nice and the pommel shows near perfect gold to the swas on each side. Scabbard leather shows a few scuffs, but nothing real detracting. It comes affixed with the original sword hanger and the entire piece has a darkened color and most of the lacquer. Pointner was in the Battle of Britain and crashed from an ariel combat in Kent and becoming a POW. Comes with a folder of documents detailing his accomplishments and actions. Amazing sword right here!
