Description
This sword which has an exceptionally rare pattern measures out at an exceptionally long 42-1/2 inches from the top of the lion’s head to the tip of the scabbard. The externals, as the pictures show, the grip is perfect, it has nice ruby eyes, brass made. It does not have a lot of gilt left on the brass. Slightly grosser in size. Extremely fine detail to the oak leaves. The blade, which is triple engraved, is in exceptionally nice condition. It has been always mounted in these fittings and has on one side a beautiful outstretched wing eagle with oak leaves left and right underneath the eagle’s wings. Beautiful floral pattern surrounds the eagle and on the reverse of the blade there is a very ornate floral pattern in the panel. Retains all of its burnishing. The scabbard paint, which, for the most part, is extremely nice and original, does show some wear to the finish but no damage in the last 3 or 4 inches before you get to the tip.
