This sword which is dated 1938 was given to a Lt. Fritz Mayer from Inf. Rgt. 19. It is a shooting prize by Horster which is beautifully double proofed on the ricasso. This is the last year that shooting prize swords were given and this sword is absolutely stunning in condition. It is a beautiful Damascus with two extraordinary large blue panels which are oak leaves and acorns and then it has two more panels that have the dedication and what it is for. It also has an extremely unique very long winged engraved eagle on the cross guard. It has a perfect triple wire wrapped grip. It is missing the old leather thumb tab.
