Description
Smaller than the more common larger eagles that you often see, as this one was normally mounted to the actual train cars. Measures only 16 inches from tip to tip of the wings. These are much more rare and this one was left uncleaned as it retains much of the original soot to the front and back. Has a bit of wear and the bottom of the wreath has a slight bend from possibly being dropped at one point. It also has a indent on the front right leg of the eagle, but that is not very detracting. On the reverse it shows the original mounting points that it was affixed to the train car and someone has written in black the word “silber” which stands for silver in english. Not sure why that was written and it may even come off if you choose to clean the piece. Still a super scarce piece to find and a fine example of this style Railway eagle.
