Description
Helmet is identified to 2nd Lt. Henry W. Hollmeyer (Harry the Horse) USMCR. Henry was with VMF-214 (Famous Black Sheep Squadron) and he designed the first VMF-214 squadron patch that was never officially recognized by the Marine Corps. The Hawley liner is made by General Fiber Company. The helmet liner carries the identification on the front inner rim as well as the original leather chinstrap. The chinstrap is broken, but will be included with the helmet as well as a mid to late war version which was added for display purposes. Both the steel helmet and Hawley liner are in very nice condition and only show minimal wear. Very cool piece with a neat story to go with it.
